Term 2, Week 9 Friday 27th June 2025

Enrolment Surveys 2026
You will have recently received an enrolment survey regarding your child/ren’s enrolment for 2026. It seems a long way off, but we are already planning for 2026 class structures and staffing. Having a clear understanding of future student numbers is vital in our forward planning as we make decisions about sizes and structures of classes from these surveys. If your circumstances change after you have returned your survey, please just let us know via email (info@smms.catholic.edu.au).
Staffing
We welcome Nikki McDonald, Marcel Laurens and Meg Walker as they work in the transition program for our new Foundation students commencing next term. Patricia Monti will be taking some leave early next term and Joseph Fuda will be working full time in 4FM during this time.
Traffic
We are continuing to monitor traffic around the school. The Port Adelaide Enfield Council actively patrol our area and do issue fines for incorrect parking. We will be handing out pamphlets over the next few weeks to remind parents/carers of their safety obligations when driving near the school. Some actions of drivers are particularly unsafe.
Please remember:
- NO U-Turns or 3 point turns near the school crossings.
- Do NOT queue over the round about
- Do NOT overtake over a school crossing
Students are supervised until 3.20pm, so please consider coming a little bit later to collect your child/ren to ease traffic congestion.
Mobile Phone Policy
Class Allocation Policy
We have attached these 2 updated policies and procedures.
Please be aware smart watches must be on ‘airplane’ mode at school and are not to be used as a communication device during school or at school events. We will be sharing this procedure with our students over the next few weeks.
Further information about class placements will be included in our newsletter next term.
Thank you for your continued support,
Kelly Campbell

Dear Families
As we approach the halfway mark of the year, I reflect on another happy and successful term of learning at St Margaret Mary's. During Term 2, our students have again had so many wonderful learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. Next term, we are eagerly looking forward to even more exciting activities! Our students will dive into water safety lessons, celebrate the joy of reading during Book Week, and experience the vibrant cultures at our Multicultural Festival. These events are just a few of the many enriching experiences that await us.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in a Parent Teacher Learning Conversation, where you can hear about your child's progress and set inspiring goals for the remainder of the year. Notes will be sent home to families soon to use our online booking system. It is important that all families make a time to connect and celebrate the achievements and growth of our students.
In Term 3 we also welcome our new Mid-Year Reception (Foundation) classes and teachers Miss Nikki McDonald, Mrs Meg Walker and Mrs Marcel Lourens. We look forward to these teachers and children joining our wonderful community.
Over the past two terms of school, I have noticed many children increasing in independence – well done. Coming to primary school is about increasing independence, and managing school bags and belongings is an important part of this growth. Please encourage your child to carry their own bag, including getting it out of the car themselves and putting it on their own back. If their bag is too heavy, then please review their bags over the holidays and ensure the bag straps are adjusted to provide support.
Thank you for your on-going support. We look forward to one more week of school together and then a restful holiday.
Keep warm!
Belinda

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Happy Solemnity! Today we celebrate the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, a deeply meaningful celebration in the Church. We are reminded of Jesus’ boundless love for humanity, shown through His suffering and sacrifice on the cross, and we are inspired to emulate that love in our own lives. This feast holds special significance for our school, as Saint Margaret Mary was chosen by Jesus to reveal and ignite devotion to His Sacred Heart.
St Vinnies Winter Appeal
Thank you for the enormous generosity of donations that have filled our Vinnies Winter Appeal baskets. Our Student Leadership Team have done a fantastic job promoting and organising our school’s social justice and outreach focus this term. As a school, we have collected many non-perishable food items that will support families in need this winter and autumn months.
If you wish to continue to support St Vinnies, a permanent Vinnies clothing bin is available behind St Margaret Mary’s Church at the back of the preschool where you can donate any clothing items. The clothing bin can be accessed via the parish driveway on Torrens Road.
Thank you for your continued support.

In Year 4FM, in Science, the students made 3D dioramas of the Water Cycle to show their understanding of the processes in it such as evaporation, condensation, evapotranspiration, precipitation and collection. They worked in groups of 3 to complete them. Here are some of the students working on their dioramas.

Junior primary students are continuing to explore the life cycle of a butterfly.
Their vocabulary development is excellent.
They are very engaged in their learning.
